My first inspiration

I have always been fascinated by a couple of family heirloom. These are beautiful bedspreads made of pure white cotton yarn. The stitches are remarkably even and the geometrical design in the one shown above makes it particularly striking to me.
When I asked my mother where these came from, she explained that her grandmother have made them. She was a shepherdess in the South of France and she would crochet while in the mountain with her herd of sheep.
It was a joy when my mother passed it on to me to cherish and enjoy but to be honest I was always too afraid to damage to use it. However, it gave me something more than a pretty cover for my bed, it gave me an interest in this craft which is quickly developing into a passion and that, I'm sure you will agree, is the most wonderful thing!

  2. Wow, you can see the many hours that has taken to make. It's great to see items like this being passed down. I know what you mean about not wanting to damage it.

Hope you are having a great weekend.
