Join in the fun with Crochet Camp!

I found out about crochet camp through a link shared on Facebook and  I immediately loved the idea.  I had to join in the fun.  The Camp is organised by the very talented Kat Goldin and I must say that her blog slugsontherefrigerator is as informative as beautiful.  The photography is stunning and the tutorial clear and concise which I think is paramount in order not to overwhelm newcomers to crochet. 
The camp is an opportunity to practice and fine-tune your crochet skills through cute projects and give you the opportunity to share your work or any issues you encounter with fellow campers.  
I really enjoyed the first project which is a sweet cherry pot holder.  It took me couple of hours to complete and gave me an opportunity to practice joining up piece which is something I am not too confident about yet.
All in all, a great experience and I am looking forward to tackling the next project. 

First project done!

My first inspiration

I have always been fascinated by a couple of family heirloom. These are beautiful bedspreads made of pure white cotton yarn. The stitches are remarkably even and the geometrical design in the one shown above makes it particularly striking to me.

When I asked my mother where these came from,she explained that her grandmother have made them. She was a shepherdess in the South of France and she would crochet while in the mountain with her herd of sheep. 

 It was a joy when my mother passed it on to me to cherish and enjoy but to be honest I was always too afraid to damage to use it. However, it gave me something more than a pretty cover for my bed, it gave me an interest in this craft which is quickly developing into a passion and that, I'm sure you will agree, is the most wonderful thing! 

My basic crochet kit

All you need to unleash your creativity:

● Crochet hooks of various sizes
● A small pair of scissors
● Some yarn needles
● Some stich markers
● A tape mesure
● some large knitting needles (needed to execute some stiches)
And last but not least
● A selection of yarns
